We demand that our contractors have the same ethical standards as we believe that honesty, integrity and fairness in our relationships with others are vital in establishing and maintaining a long, mutually beneficial relationship and a sound foundation for a successful business.
We work to meet this commitment by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, the application of appropriate international standards and the establishment of a Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) Management System to aid the review and audit of all our HSES and CSR policies. We take into account social and environmental considerations when making all business decisions and seek to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment.
To the best of our ability, on sites that we control, we protect the health, safety and security of employees of our partners and contractors in the same way that we protect our own employees. We conduct our business in an open and socially responsible way and always in accordance with the laws of the host country. We seek to establish open and effective relationships with local and national government departments and agencies and with the communities in which our operations are located.
As an example of this, in 2007 we signed a 15 year sales agreement with PTT Public Company. Our Phu Horm field provides gas to the local 750 megawatt Nam Phong power station located approximately 62 kilometres south of the field. Apart from the economic benefits, Coastal makes a concerted effort to support local economies by using locally produced goods and services wherever possible.
