Coastal Energy owns a 100% interest in Blocks G5/43 and G5/50 in the Gulf of Thailand. The current combined area of the blocks is approximately 5,021 square kilometers (1.24 million acres) spanning across the Songkhla, Nakhon and Ko Kra basins.
The Company currently has two approved 20-year production licenses on Block G5/43, one for the Songkhla field (granted in 2008) and one for the Bua Ban field (granted in 2009). These two licenses cover 357 square kilometers in the Songkhla basin and contain the Company’s two currently producing reservoirs (Songkhla Lower Oligocene and Songkhla Eocene) and one proved undeveloped field (Bua Ban) which collectively combined 2P reserves covered by the licenses of 32.9 mmbbl*. The licenses also contain 17 identified exploration prospects with 338 mmbbl of prospective and contingent resources.
Coastal has 2-D and 3-D seismic data on the southern half of Block G5/43 and has recently conducted a dense 2-D seismic acquisition for the northern portion of G5/43, including Block G5/50.
